So I have made a change in routine. I am not sure if I have mentioned before that my morning routine starts with a 2.5 miles brisk walk followed by my coffee and writing this post. I do another 2.5 miles during lunch time that helps me clock 5 miles and 10000 steps daily.
I used to do a bit of ground exercise a few months back including 25 sun salutations and 50 pushups and 50 squats. But then I had a shoulder ache and I had stopped it. As a result my stretching also took a hit and I was just doing the walking.
A few days back I tried to do some stretching and found myself becoming very stiff and rigid. I had to add the stretching into my routine. Tried doing it in the morning but that was making my mornings way jam packed than I would like it to.
This week I decided to reduce my walking and just stick to 2.5 miles and spend the morning time fully on ground exercises and also start some strength training. Now over 50 you have to balance as the goals are different.
Also another reason is as it gets colder towards winter the morning walk will be tougher and so in home routine in the morning will be ideal. Another option I am thinking is to do the 2.5 miles as a jog instead of a brisk walk. But I have a slight issue there.
I have never been an athletic person and jogging and running have always been tough for me. I am not sure if I want to start doing that at this part of my life. Adding another 2.5 miles more into my daily routine would be ideal. Maybe in the evening.
And with Podcasts my walking becomes an interesting form of entertainment. I will leave you all today with a quote by the American Singer Mike Murdock “The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.”
