Nothing in his mind
Just Uncertainty
On death row for 20 years
He finally walks free
A crime so heinous
He wished death than being accused
But now he walks Free
Half dead of the man he was
A part of him was put to death
Every single day in confinement
Another part just crumbled to dust
In the weight of his own optimism
20 years is not short to say
People could live a whole life of sin
And he was confined
For a crime he never did
A decade ago his love came in
A wish with her to move on in life
He too wished her well and said
“You have been so generous”
Now he walks free once again
Into a world much unknown
He looked back at his cell once more
With tears in his eyes he bid farewell
Leaving the only things he has
The scribbling on the wall
The Pillows and the blanket
The inmate number that was him
He leaves it all for a freedom
He knows not what to do
He leaves it all for a world
He knows is not his anymore
