Rowdy Rathore is the latest entrant into bollywood that has a big influence of Tamil and Telugu movies. Knowing that Prabhudeva is directing the moving the action was expected just like his earlier movie Wanted. Again a remake of a telugu film Vikramarkudu, the theme gels well for a Bollywood movie. After the more recent Singam now you have a new action remake. Since I had not seen either of the originals, I really enjoyed watching this without any comparisons troubling me. Even ‘wanted’ by prabhudeva was a remake I guess.
It is a full length entertainer where you should watch the movie just like when you used to as a young kid clapping for every dialogue and fight scene. I was getting irritated with Akshay only doing comedy for a long time and this action comedy marks his return to his Khiladi self in a nice way.
If someone says, how can you watch one hero beat up 100 people, well if you can watch matrix and say wow, then why not Rathore. These movies are made for entertainment, entertainment and entertainment. So dont expect them to challenge your thoughts. But in my opinion spending 2 hours in the theatre watching action packed masala is very relaxing for your brain cells during the weekend.
I would recommend you to go watch it in theatre, enjoy the action, some good comedy and laughs. You will feel good, there is a lot of action but a caution it comes with some bloodshed, so take kids only if you are ok them watching this.
The songs are nothing great, but the dances you can be sure that when prabhudeva directs it will be worth the watch. Sonakshi, is pretty as usual and good to watch and adds to the glamour, not sure if there was anything more than being pretty that was expected from her. It would not have made any difference if it was any other pretty actress in the role. But sonakshi served one purpose, a Dabangg effect to the movie 🙂
Another interesting addition is the Tamil actor Nasser as the main villian, a talented actor you can see his versatility run between villainous and comic acts.
Also we have a dance scene that has Prabhudeva as well as the Tamil actor vijay along with Kareena joining in a dance scene. In short, Jao jaake dekho….
