Do you think that children should be rewarded for trying, not just succeeding?

Before we get to children, let us take a moment to find what is the difference between trying and succeeding. Here is my thought.

Trying is a journey. It is not an end or destination. yes it ends when we quit or fail or succeed, until then it is a journey.

Succeeding is a destination and end to what we have been trying. But it is also not a place where you can be for eternity. You Succeed on something and you move on. If you stay on there for long the world will move on and you will be left there.

Let us look at what happens when you just reward kids for Succeeding alone. One they will strive to succeed if the reward is what drives them. Two they will stop trying after they fail a few times.

The question comes back to us if we want our kids to succeed for the want of a reward or because we want them to enjoy the process. That Journey.

I think rewards should be balanced. We should reward for trying till trying becomes part of them. No success is worthwhile if we don’t enjoy the journey because in a journey we give the most precious part of us. Our life and time.

That is my take what is yours. ?
