Conversations on Career & Future

Our son Rahi is a junior and has started thinking about college. His interest is Theater and Animation and Story telling.

I have started this conversation with him on his future prospects. Initially I had this reservation about Arts. Though I have my creative side I have always thought that it is a side hustle. I have no idea if I have what it takes to make it Full time. May be I was never ready for that struggle.

These are times when you become incapable to guide as a parent. That said these conversations are very enlightening.

After some thought and conversations we decided that he is not going to pursue his studies in science or engineering or IT which are the fields of his parents.

Instead he will pursue what he loves. Theater, Ventriloquism, Performing Arts, Acting, Animation, Story Telling. And we will just support him in his journey.

After all it is his life and dreams and aspirations. Not ours. We have no doubt to limit them and with our insecurities and inabilities and limits of understanding.

Also we should spend our time, effort and money on what we love. Once decided I feel lighter and even fugured there can be ways we can navigate this together. Understand the world and what it has in store.

Go fly… Go where you want to go to. We will wave and cheer for you from where we are.

The picture is of him and his friend Sam doing some ventriloquism act for YouTube…

Here is a singing duel with his friend Sam….
