Gandhi Jayanthi and Change

I have read what many people have written about Gandhi. The Gandhi who went to South Africa was not the same Gandhi who came back to India. The Gandhi who embarked on any journey was not the same as the Gandhi who arrived at the end of the journey. Gandhi for me is change.

He was a human being who continuously changed when he realized that his thought was not correct. I say human being to stress the point that there is a Gandhi is everyone who is ready to change.

I have always felt that he would have changed again if he was not assassinated. How would he have changed is something we can always debate.

Personally I don’t think Gandhi should be beyond criticism. Gandhi was critical about himself as I understand. Even during his times he was criticized. Even among his close circles, till some felt they cannot criticize and they decided to assassinate him. But you can only Kill people not ideas.

Everyone should make their own Gandhi Journey internally to really understand what Gandhi means to them. For me it is change. And one idea of Gandhi that I try to uphold and honestly failed most times is about change.

“Be the change you want to see in the world” How much ever we write it is not easy to change.

This Gandhi Jayanthi, a question “What would Gandhi Think” will help us connect and converse with the Gandhi in us. Traveling through Gandhi we all might not reach at the same destination is also my thought
