Today’s Time – A Poem

Today nothing happened,
Maybe today itself did not happen
Maybe we are still in yesterday
Who knows we might even be in tomorrow
Maybe we just skipped today without even knowing

I have had days and weeks go by
Not knowing where they went….
Looking back I feel,
Even the years have gone by
What did I do…?
How did I spend them..?
What did I gain.. lose..?

Time is such an interesting piece
I once thought it was locked in a timepiece
I thought time would stop
when the timepiece stopped

Oh! sorry.. I forgot
A time piece is like a clock
one that sits on a table.
a clock is what hangs on the wall
Now we call them alarm clocks
As a kid we used to called them time pieces.

Deadlines take a good part of our life
Like time speeds to reach deadlines
Why do they even call them deadlines?
Who is dying on those lines?
Most people die before they reach the lines
Some are even wedded dead to those lines
They say we should have our own deadlines
Or else the world will kill us on theirs.

But I always have a today
and I will always have a memory of yesterday
What I don’t know is, if I have a tomorrow.
I don’t know if I have one.. two.. three.. or more..
How many tomorrows are left….
Today is all I have
now..
And that too will be over..
soon….

Time.. will still be there…
for those for whom it matters
