On this Thanksgiving 2025

I met Sheeba Ameer for the first time in 2019. Since then, every time she is in the U.S, I make it a point to meet her. And whenever I travel to Kerala, I always visit her at Solace Global in Thrissur.

I ask myself why I visit Solace. What do I contribute by going there? Honestly, I don’t know. It’s not Sheeba who makes me go there, though over the years she has become a friend who has consoled me, grounded me, and helped me find a bit of peace in this difficult world.

I go because of the people at Solace. People of all ages, working selflessly. People who remind me how small I am. Each visit humbles me.

I always want to go back to Kerala, India and live there. When people ask “But what will you do there?” I don’t have a grand plan. There are things in life that draw you not because you can do something big, but because they make you feel human again. And for me, Solace is one of those places.

Do I do anything now? Not much. There are so many people across the world who tirelessly work for Solace and its mission to support the families of children who battle long term illnesses.

Compared to all the volunteers, I am nothing. But even someone like me can still do a small part is what Ibrealized. I max my Benevity donations for Solace.

I don’t usually talk about donations on social media, but I’m sharing this because you too can do this little thing with a huge impact. Check for Solace Charities Inc in your company‘s Benevity section.

If you are able, please do attend the Annual Banquet on December 6th 2025. Listen and Let your heart respond.

Beyond donating, try to visit Solace in Thrissur, Kerala. Spend a day there. Be part of what Solace does for over 3000+ families. Your presence matters as much as your contribution.

Last week, a colleague came to my desk and asked if I had used my company’s donation benefit. I said yes. She said, “There’s an additional amount you can avail, please use it.” I would have missed it if she hadn’t walked over.

She is extremely busy, yet she took the time to remind people. She didn’t have to. She was simply being herself… selfless, aware, and willing to make sure help reaches someone who needs it.

This Thanksgiving, I want to thank her for reaching out to me. And I want to thank all the volunteers of Solace. You all make me hopeful about the world we live in.

Thank you.
