After the rains for few days the clouds have cleared and what a greta day to start something. Human mind is so powerful to create thoughts that can influence other minds and that is the core of various philosophical schools of thoughts that have emerged in the past. Understanding, at least at a basic level of what drove people in past and what ideologies and philosophies shaped the course of mankind is so important for understanding the unknown future we have ahead.
One might think that many of the philosophies are quite dead and buried, but the fact is the remains of the thoughts still loiter in the corridors of the human mind giving it the push to tailor new thoughts. I have not been a voracious reader in my childhood and was primarily into playing and watching movies, though my thirties have been more close with books and over the last ten years I have been able to open my mind to many books of relevance.
Not that I fully understood everything what was written but over the years I have been able to more closely relate to my likes and dislikes. I feel that philosophy puts a surgical scissors on your thoughts and helps you dissect your own likes and dislikes so that you can make a better judgement or what you want and need.
I think as people turn forty they should be exposed to many of the old writings and I feel that when you feed your mind with the thoughts that shaped this world, it will pave way for understanding your tomorrow better.
