Before I tell anything about the movie…I think the best thing that happened to this movie was that Aishwarya got pregnant…If not then Bhandarkar would not have casted Kareena for this role…I have always felt that Kareena is way ahead a better actress than Aishwarya Rai Bachan..

Though the movie will appeal less to the viewer who expects a Page3 kind of effect it is worth watching once… Also I guess it is time Bhandarkar shifts his themes a bit…Bhandarker has always told stories of a particular system or vocation that exists in our society ….and I would not be surprised if his next movies would be based on subjects like school system, healthcare etc…..

There are few things that work against how the general appeal…the first is his last movie fashion that also tells the personal struggles, triamphs and falls of a female character in the fashion world…Here the same story somes live in the film industry with a different star cast..

The second thing that adversely would effect the movie is a comparison people would make with the recent ‘Dirty Picture’ the aroma of which is still lingering in the viewers senses….So making a better choice on his next movie wouldbe a necessary evil for Bhandarkar.

That being said the movie is not a bore and is watchable not for the storyline because much of it is predictable. If anything should make this movie a must watch it would be Kareena Kapoor and how well she has done her role… And with two movies Barfi and Heroine from the Kapoor family one can be assured that the Kapoor glory is to say for more years ahead…

The movie storyline is nothing new as I said and we have seen many movies made on bollywood and all had the realities of the glitter shown along with the silent stories that get lost in the glory…Here too it tells the stories people going after fame and getting lost… But what is special about heroine is the character of Kareena who clearly portrays the lost identity of a person between two people she wants to be..The famous actress and a secure lover…The film is all about the struggle between these two personalities within that character.. and I know I am repeating again…but Kareena has done it well..Much better than Priyanka in Fashion…

The small appearance of Ranvir Shorey as the award winning director of realistic cinemas was nice…he is always a treat to watch….Other characters Randeep Hooda and Arjun Rampal along with Mugda Godse all did ok…but it is an out and out Kareena movie….with the rest of the folks sharing a meagre screen time in the movie…

Also the ending of the movie was abrupt I felt and could have had a better closure than what you get to see…Leaving the viewer with many why and how questions….Though Kareena’s performance would be remembered and even fetch her an award…the movie in its entirity would be forgotten…

Should you watch this movie in theatre…I would say yes…but if you only have one movie for september then go for Barfi…..
