The screaming manA Screaming man (Un homme qui crie) is a 2010 French Chadian movie directed by Mahamat Saleh Haroun that is set during the chad civil war. The movie revolves around the life of Adam played by Youssouf Djaoro who is a pool attendant and former swimming champion in Chad.

The story is about the complex relationships that people are in and how they react to situations. How people make decisions and then find it difficult to live by it..

The movie also has Diouc Koma playing Abdel, Adam’s son who also works with him in the pool. When Adam looses his job to his son as part of downsizing he takes the drastic decision to enlist his son for the war so that he can get his job back. Soon enough he understands the mistake he has done when Abdel’s pregnant girl friend comes home searching for him.

But some decisions once taken are beyond your control to retract and the same happens with Adam. The movie shows the fine elements of fatherhood and how fatherhood and individual preferences collide.. The film explores the complex culture of war that can change the dynamics of relationships drastically when a point reaches when individuals fail to make the choices that they would have made in the absence of conflicts.

It is worthwhile movie to watch and makes you feel that there are so many stories and themes that are yet to be told….The realities of life and the stories of people can be sometimes be so much of an eyeopener when we look at the world from our safe havens…..
