Yesterday we lost a very dear friend, someone who in a very short time had shown us the endless array of those vibrant colors in life that makes it so beautiful.

Loss of a loved one is never the conclusion or finale of the relationship we had with them but it is a stage in an eternal relationship we will continue to have with them. A stage that transcends itself from our world of accepted realities to the world of memories making the relationship stronger than ever before. It is a duality of being human. While we might be the only being that takes the most time to cope with a loved one’s departure, we are also the only beings that can look at our loss and take our relationship with them to a new level and with that find more meaning to the life around us.

Every day knowingly or unknowingly we build, break and transform our relationships with others in many unforeseen ways, yet there comes a day when we stand still and witness a completely unknown and yet true terrain of our life on earth, the fact that we all will have to leave it one day. It is also true that as human beings we are bestowed with so much resilience to live on and give back by acknowledging an essential missing part of our life and ensuring that we will never leave that space empty but will fill it with the cherished moments from our memories as life moves on

Like a small breeze, some people come into our life and before we know it would have passed us leaving with them a sense of having been touched somewhere deep inside us. We have all had such breezes in our life that was too short but what it brought with it lingers on in our lives. I am short of words when I remember that such a breeze had come and touched many of our lives and have now moved on.

The fabric of a relationship starts quite delicate but gets stronger and with an inescapable goodbye it starts holding itself stronger within us. Transcending the constraints of time and space it remains an eternal embodiment of what we call humanity in each one of us.

It is not easy to face a loss in a relationship and the only way it can be made bearable is by imbibing their existence into the framework of our life ahead, not by forgetting, but by remembering our privilege of have known them. Just like the peaceful, tranquil smile that is left with us when a breeze passes us, every departure of a loved one will leave not just with memories but also with an absolute urge to be a better person than what we are now.
