Bol Bachchan and its Golmaal factor

Bol-Bachchan-MovieBol Bachchan as many might know by now derives the story meat or influence from the Amol Palekhar, Utpal Dutt Classic Golmaal. In other words you could say it is Rohit Shetty’s Tribute to that classic…. However the movie is adapted to the current times and interests of the film goers and so in my opinion a comparison as to which is better would be unfair to both the makers and actors in both movies. Think about the difference in this way, the role similar to the one Utpal Dutt played in the old Golmaal is played by Ajay Devgn in Bol Bachchan…

The fact that the story line is influenced with Golmaal does not make it a bore because you know the story. Though you can anticipate what happens next you will be interested in seeing how a scene has been filmed here.

Though on a critical note I have to say that many of the movies in Bollywood that are focused purely on comedy sometimes gets to the level of many skits joined together into a two and a half hours and I think that is not a very interesting trend….. Yet as a comedy movie Bol Bachchan was a worthy watch…It met my expectations and I always feel the success of a movie is if it meets the viewers expectations or not…

Abhishek did a good job and I felt was funny…Ajay Devgn was also funny, but for me his all time best Comedy performance was the Golmaal-1 (not the old Golmaal). Personally I like Ajay in serious roles, intense dramas and action. But that is my choice and I feel his acting calibre is under utilized in comedies.

The movie had a comedy circus ingredient with Krishna, Archana and VIP in various roles… Krushna and Archana doing important roles and VIP supporting them… I have always felt Krushna is a talented actor and he should be given chances in more comedies.. he could really do a lot of Arshad Warsi comedy roles… And again Arshad warsi is much more than the comedy characters he play (Remember Seher)

bolbachchan-neeraj VoraThe movie also has the multi talented writer, actor, director Neeraj Vora playing an important role and funny as always.. It is been a while since we have seen him play major roles and I would love to see him act more.. There are so many characters in many movies we watch that he can really contribute . The interesting thing about Neeraj is that his face expression itself silently conveys a myriad of emotions

Asin did not have much to do than support the rest.. Prachi had a role much better than Rock on and she looks good and I am sure she would have more roles to come her
way.

Ajay Devgn’s Broken English comedy is the main USP for the movie but my favorite was Abhishek’s performance as his made up twin brother and his dancing scene.. That was a good surprise…..

Having scene most of the recent major Bollywood flicks and comparing this with Sajid Khan’s Housefull-2 which I felt was too much commotion than comedy… Bol Bachchan did a far better work than Houseful-2…..
