Apple’s Compatibility Demon & Creativity

So my son likes to animate and a few years back I had given him the IPAD I bought. That was a 3rd Generation IPAD Air. I bought it not because I had any specific need for it. But then once he showed interest in animation, I gave it to him and he has been putting it to great use.

I had bought him a few pencils too to go with it. he usually does not crib about things and so sometimes you don’t find out the struggles he goes through. I think that has to do with my nature as well. As he is unsure how I might react when he asks me about it. I am not proud of that fact. There is a lot I need to change.

Anyway this time when we went to India he said it might be better to get an Apple Pencil as he has seen in videos that it is better. I said sure. As soon as we came back I went ahead and ordered an Apple Pencil 2nd Generation. The latest one. That is when the compatibility demon comes into your life.

IPAD Air 3rd generation is not compatible with the 2nd Generation Apple Pencil. I have to get the 1st generation Apple Pencil. New purchase and return of old item as usual.

This was like 20 days back. Meanwhile I switched a lot of my reading into Medium and now Magzter to read magazines. I want some handheld reading device. I thought of Kindle but I also was leaning towards IPAD Mini which seems very portable. Now what do I do.

But I figured the best option is to get my son a new IPAD Air and I use my few years old IPAD 3. Anyway my need is just to read. That will do the purpose. But now I will also have to get the 2nd Generation Apple pencil with the new IPAD. Compatibility demon in play.

The good thing about me is I forget and am lazy in returns and run on the last day. The Apple Pencil 2nd generation I was supposed to return is still on my table waiting to be returned.

I order a new IPAD for my son. And start the return process for the 1st generation Apple Pencil. That is when a new thought comes to mind. I have always wanted to have more space and activities to do with my son. Why not I start animation and drawing along with him using my old IPAD.. Why don’t I keep the Apple Pencil with me.

See how compatibility demon makes you spend and then open up new creative avenues for you.
