The Social Addict – 365 Flash Fiction #10

He left early from office …. was very excited … a little more excited than usual for his achievement..… but home had a different atmosphere awaiting him… As soon as he got in the first thing he heard was his wife’s voice…. She was on the phone….
“He has absolutely no sense… how can he… does he have any idea what it would do…. that friggin creep… how can he be so insensitive..”
He had absolutely no clue what had happened…. but he knew the “he” in reference was him… he stood quietly and rewinded his day.. what the heck did he do that day….

In the morning he had dropped his son at the school as usual and drove faster than usual… he could have stopped at the nearby parking lot…. but he decided to hold off his urge….. He had ran up the stairs and opened his laptop before sitting and logged in… he could not wait more and started typing.…

Fun morning Today
————————
My 6 year old calls from the toilet today…. “dad this won’t work….”
I said “don’t worry try to fit it back and pull it down… it will work…. I have shown you before…. you are a big kid now… you have grown up… you can do it on your own….”
the flush knob has been acting weird for some time… it comes in your hand every time you try to pull it… But the 6 year old was in no mood to fix it and he kept calling…
“Dad this won’t work…. Dad this won’t work… “
When I finally go there and see, he still sitting on the toilet seat and pointing down…
“dad this won’t work….. dad this won’t work….” he said pointing down
I get it now… he can’t pee….  “ Don’t worry…. get up… you can do it later….” I console him
“No it won’t work…. it won’t work….” he cries…
I hugged him and lifted him up from the toilet seat and look into the toilet bowl and he had already peed… the poor chap was in half asleep when I made him sit on it and somewhere between half asleep and half awake he never realized that he had peed… I asked him to take a look in the toilet bowl…
He took a look and smiled at me in surprise…. he was now fully awake….

This must be the first time he took a look at his own pee in the toilet… and probably the start of a habit he will take with him into adulthood…. I knew that many guys look into the toilet bowl once they are done… yes before flushing… well not sure why… but I do… and I have heard that many of my friends do as well… never figured why… may there is an element of mistrust… or somewhere we are told that if your morning excreta is proper… you will have a proper day… who knows… anyway my son starts that habit today I guess….
The End….

Then he had read it once more and clicked post….. After a few minutes he had logged in again and checked… 3 likes… he then got to work….. then again checked on his mobile… after an hour. 15 likes… cool…. before evening there were 250 likes and 15 shares…. and he felt that a lot of work had got done… that was even better… Nothing else happened that day….

So what is the problem now…
“Do you have any idea who all you have in your friend list you mad man…” her voice was louder this time… and this time she was addressing him.
He knew he had a lot of people in there… Many of whom he had never met… he always accepted friend requests… made him feel important…. but what is the problem.. his post was funny.. he got 250 likes… which is more than what many people get in his circles… may be she is jealous with him…

He slowly sat on the sofa and asked “what happened…?” he paused and then added  “Honey….” That did not cool her… she walked up from the kitchen and looked at him
“You have no right to write about others… especially when they can’t read it…. you and your dammit social networks”

She did not talk to him that day… but at night when she had cooled down she said…. “you have no idea what happened today… One of his friend’s dad was at school in the afternoon… and he like an idiot asks him about your stupid post and embarrasses him in front of everyone….”
He was shocked… he never expected that would happen… he looked at her unable to believe what he heard….
She turned towards him and said… “It is not your fault I know….. what we think cute is not always cute for them… it is the way they are… their life…. not a matter of fun for the public… many times that will be a pinch on their individuality…. his friend’s dad might have also thought it was cute… but you know kids are not like adults.. ”
He thought about it and lied down closing his eyes….
“What an idiot I have been… need to make up for it…. but how….?”
With kids the only thing that you can expect is that they forget things faster… the more we talk they are reminded about it…. he slept with a burden that night
