World Peace – #11 of 365 Poems

They said ‘build a wall’
and the world said ‘we will break it’

They said ‘keep the guns ready’
and the world said ‘fill them up with flowers’

They said ‘tie the ropes’
and the world said ‘untie the hatred’

They said ‘starve them to death’
and the world said ‘yes feed them more’

They will try it all
but the world will fail it all.

They will say ‘we and them’
and the world will say its ‘we and us’

They will ask for war
and the world will patiently say
“we need no more of guns, ropes or walls or death
we need peace”
