I did not go to college and do my Engineering Degree because I wanted to. I did not know what else to do or did not have any other aspirations. I was ok with studies. And for those who did not have a clear idea on what they wanted to do, engineering was a prospective study area back then.

But times have changed now, Kids know what they want or at least they know what they do not want. We try to put them in our view of the world and advice them when they are building their own view of the world and finding where they fit in.

Two weeks back I had this conversation with my son who is currently a Sophomore. The topic was ‘Why Go To College’. Some would say it is not a relevant question. But I think it is today. I tried best to not be that preachy dad. I don’t think I succeeded fully.
