War Witch – Rebelle – 2012

Rebelle_(2012_film)War Witch (Rebelle) is a 2012 French Canadian Movie from director Kim Nguyen tells the story of a sub-saharan african girl Komona who is kidnapped by Rebels, forced to kill her own parents and inducted as a child soldier…. the movie is filmed as if she is telling her story to her unborn child….. The movie was nominated in the best foreign movie category for the 85th Academy Award in 2013…

The role of Komona is played by Rachel Mwanza who lived many years as a street child in Kinshasa before the film makers found her for the movie…. After the movie the filmmakers are said to have made arrangements to pay for her education till she turns 18…

The Movie takes a very honest and raw stab at portraying the life of child soldiers and the life they have to go through amidst abuses and superstition….. glimpses of hope and more…. A must see for aspiring movie makers and kudos to the director for bring to life the story of Komona..
