The Anti-Rape Bill Passed…. Now what…..

Only when the Anti rape bill was passed do many understand how fragile the law towards rape and sex offenses has been in India….. And when you realize that acid attacks and child trafficking crimes are still not punishable by life imprisonment you understand how more stronger the law needs to be….. As this bill was getting passed in another part in india there was … Continue reading The Anti-Rape Bill Passed…. Now what…..

Shane Koyczan….. for the bullied and beautiful

I have heard Shane before… He has a very captivating way of presenting his poetry…. And here we get to hear something very important to both kids and adults equally…. The constant argument between self and the society imposed self…. The horrors of not just bullying but the horrors of how everything around tries to fit you in a preconceived manufactured mould….. Some like Shane … Continue reading Shane Koyczan….. for the bullied and beautiful

Amanda is a fact that many fail to realize…. Through her work and approach she is taking art to its truest and oldest form of creation, consumption and commercialization…. Sir Ken’s Followup talk at TED

I had written about Sir Ken’s first talk in TED earlier and today I had a chance to hear him again. The last talk did change me in the way I looked at what my kids wanted and as a result my daughter whom we were pushing for violin classes, given a choice stopped it and enrolled in Gymnastics.

Now the result is that I don’t have to remember the dates of the classes, nor do I have to ask her to practice. She notes the dates, and makes sure to get my keys in time to driver her to the Gymnastics lessons. Now we have a much happier young lady at home.

Happen to see an excellent talk by Kiran Bir Sethi, at TED.com. She is the founder of Riverside Schools in Ahmadabad Its so true that we often forget what we can learn from kids as we are always busy teaching them to be like us. Aravind Eye Care System

“Simplicity of Confidence”, so well said by Dr. V in this video. Medical practitioners’ world over have a position that many professionals don’t have. A position where people come to them with an unflinching element of trust, as it is looked more as a service than a profession. Hence this demands a very bold responsibility on their part to make an impartial judgment of what … Continue reading Aravind Eye Care System

Devadutt Pattanaik on East vs. West

Interesting to note someone say that there is an Indian way to things and that it is very similar to the ways in other places, but built from the myth and believes in India. People visiting India both for fun and business both have seen the diversity from cultural traits with which they could never relate properly to mannerisms, accent and attire, that make them … Continue reading Devadutt Pattanaik on East vs. West

Tharoor’s Soft Power

My expectation on Tharoor’s talk was too high I guess. More over there was a lot of twitterola on the same. He is with no doubt a great speaker and a refreshing addition to the Indian politics. His talk lights up these thoughts in my mind 1. The bricks that hold the diversity of India are very strong 2. India has so many more stories … Continue reading Tharoor’s Soft Power
