Sir Ken’s Followup talk at TED

I had written about Sir Ken’s first talk in TED earlier and today I had a chance to hear him again. The last talk did change me in the way I looked at what my kids wanted and as a result my daughter whom we were pushing for violin classes, given a choice stopped it and enrolled in Gymnastics.

Now the result is that I don’t have to remember the dates of the classes, nor do I have to ask her to practice. She notes the dates, and makes sure to get my keys in time to driver her to the Gymnastics lessons. Now we have a much happier young lady at home.

Kiran Bir Sethi at TED

Happen to see an excellent talk by Kiran Bir Sethi, at TED.com. She is the founder of Riverside Schools in Ahmadabad Its so true that we often forget what we can learn from kids as we are always busy teaching them to be like us. The fact that our life was shaped by the child in us reinstates that we can learn now from the … Continue reading Kiran Bir Sethi at TED

Aravind Eye Care System

“Simplicity of Confidence”, so well said by Dr. V in this video. Medical practitioners’ world over have a position that many professionals don’t have. A position where people come to them with an unflinching element of trust, as it is looked more as a service than a profession. Hence this demands a very bold responsibility on their part to make an impartial judgment of what … Continue reading Aravind Eye Care System

Fields Wicker-Miurin on Leadership’s Missing Manual

Fields Wicker-Miurin’s talk had some people claiming it not that good or worthy for TED. Well the point many miss is that more than being taught of new things we need to be reminded of what we already know. I felt the talk was really good for it let us know closely three lives from different parts of the world that had the same message … Continue reading Fields Wicker-Miurin on Leadership’s Missing Manual

Devadutt Pattanaik on East vs. West

Interesting to note someone say that there is an Indian way to things and that it is very similar to the ways in other places, but built from the myth and believes in India. People visiting India both for fun and business both have seen the diversity from cultural traits with which they could never relate properly to mannerisms, accent and attire, that make them … Continue reading Devadutt Pattanaik on East vs. West

Tharoor’s Soft Power

My expectation on Tharoor’s talk was too high I guess. More over there was a lot of twitterola on the same. He is with no doubt a great speaker and a refreshing addition to the Indian politics. His talk lights up these thoughts in my mind 1. The bricks that hold the diversity of India are very strong 2. India has so many more stories … Continue reading Tharoor’s Soft Power

Anupam Mishra on Water Harvesting

Self Reliance and self sufficiency are always a topic. It is so amazing to see how technology and innovation in its raw form can make a change to common life. While we run around with mobiles and laptops thinking that we hold the world in our hands we often forget the wisdom of the past that gave birth to extraordinary innovation even in the commonest … Continue reading Anupam Mishra on Water Harvesting

Comment on Dr. Sunitha’s TED Talk

I am sure everyone who watched this video would have taken more than a moment to grapple with the horror. But it is the truth and is presented by someone who has gone through it. Dr. Sunitha’s call to all is not in just rescuing, but rehabilitating. And that is where each and every one of us can contribute in one way or other She … Continue reading Comment on Dr. Sunitha’s TED Talk

Comment of Scott Kim’s TED Talk

Puzzles are so fun to solve and here is someone who finds it lot more fun to make them. In the world of puzzles in our real world, many of us are more creators like Scott rather than solvers. We create puzzles of seemly simple things and get lost in it unable to solve them. And then there will come a genius telling how stupid … Continue reading Comment of Scott Kim’s TED Talk
